Building our Democratic Ward Committees

What's a Democratic Ward Committee?
It's the local Democratic Party unit, the official party representatives in your neighborhood.
Can I join?
Yes, but only if you know the rules. One of the main purposes of this website is to let normal people in on the rules, so they can join.
Do they actually have power?
Their one official power is to nominate Election Commissioners, and this time of year (which is why we're recruiting now).
What's an Election Commissioner?
Those are the people who run the elections in your city. There are two Democrats and two Republicans in every city. The Ward Committee members pick them.
Where do I get more information?
- You can find your ward commitee chair at massdems.org/getlocal/chairslist.cfm
- You can ask them when and where is the next meeting, since all meetings are open to the public.
- Some ward committee chairs don't want new people, and another purpose of this website is to get around "gatekeepers" like them. Contact us if you feel you've encountered one.

Due March 18. Delegates are eligible in the following categories:
Youth delegate (100 seats for people age 35 and under)
Minority delegate (522 seats for people of African, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, or Cape Verdean descent).
Disabled delegate (30 seats).
